The Dimachaeron Rises

You know you've been busy when you throw three empty cans of undercoat into the bin. Progress on the Tyranid horde is accelerating with the aim being to have every single model short of the hierophant built and undercoated within the next two weeks. After assembling various carnifexes, primes, neurothropes, venomthropes and warriors, I'm finally getting round to the bigger forgeworld kits.

The Dimachaeron was a rather wonderful birthday present and I've been delaying building it as I wanted to get the paint scheme right by practicing on less important models first. Its not an easy kit to assemble and its going to be a nightmare to transport as its got lots of fiddly appendages, but it's just so big and vicious looking that you have to love it.

You can also see the part built Barbed Hierodule in the background. I'm going to paint his arms separately and then attach them, so that guy's as far along as he is going to get for this stage.

You may also notice that the Dimachaeron is missing an arm. This is due to a very large air bubble that has obliterated part of one of the claws.

Unfortunately it's too big to patch with green stuff. Everyone I know who has had a quality issue with Forgeworld stuff has said they are really good about dealing with this sort of thing, so I should be able to get the big guy up and eating marines soon.
