Dark Angels: Ravenwing

As part of my 7300 point Dark Angel army, I'm very proud to have assembled a fast attack bike force that has enough scale to not look too lost.

I've been building this, along with my wider army, for around 3 years and have probably found black armour to be the hardest to paint in all honesty. As a result, you will no doubt see an improvement in the quality of my newer models and I am probably most pleased with my Ravenwing Black Knights - and in particular the banner which took me quite a long time...I've found that the key to painting banners is simply lots and lots of slow and patient work.

All bikes are based in black primer and then detail pulled out with lead belcher, which is then washed in Nuln Oil and then highlighted with Necron (or the older equivalent). The bikes them selves are then highlighted using what was the darkest of the greys which I think is currently mechanicum grey.

Compared to my Grey Knights, I could have gone over on subsequent lighter highlights, but in all honesty, I found bikes less interesting to paint than a lot of my other models - as a result I've gone with a simple approach.

Nevertheless, once all assembled on a board (which was done for the first time during our second visit to J'Migan Bridge), they look great - and with the Banner of devastation, and the first turn, they are a very fun army to play with.

Still Deathwing and Greenwing contingents to be posted so please bear with me.
