John's January Hobby Progress

A solid hobby month, kicked off with a game of 40k at Warhammer World; my Tyranids versus Steve's mixed Imperial force on the amazing Spyral Prime board. At 240 power it took us the whole day.

Battle is joined across the surface of Spyral Prime

Reinforcements mop up a Tyranid incursion into Imperial lines

Blood Angels Air Support prepares for a strafing run

A Trygon bursts from the ground to smash apart this landraider

An ancient warrior stands guard over a key objective

Genestealers burst out of the ruins and into an assault

An aerial view of the carnage

The Xyphon proved to be an effective weapon against the Tyranid weapon beasts

The survivors of a crashed gunship are quickly surrounded. Only Draigo was able to fight his way free to friendly lines

A Fireraptor cruises above the battle, raining down death

A Grey Knight land raider holds a vital junction

We also got to go to the first Cult of Paint tank course. Cult of Paint is run by two amazing artists: Henry Steele and Andy Wardle. They run a number of weekend and week long courses each year, covering a whole host of painting skills.

The tank course was an amazing weekend. I learned a huge amount and everyone on the course was a top bloke. Cant recommend this course enough for people wanting to learn how to get the most out of their airbrush when painting vehicles. I did a World Eaters whirlwind but didn't have time to do the turret. Will do the turret and go back and redo the exhausts in February. Overall, I'm quite pleased. The only problem is that its making my other stuff look a bit rubbish. Time to start a new army!
